Privacy Policy
1. Who Is Responsible for Your Data
Ryan Landreth, trading as CutNest, is the data controller for any personal data processed in connection with this service. Contact: hello@cutnest.co.uk · cutnest.co.uk.
2. What Personal Data We Hold
We hold minimal personal data. When you purchase a Pro subscription, Lemon Squeezy (our payment processor) collects your email address, billing name and payment details. We receive your email address from Lemon Squeezy solely to deliver your licence key and respond to support queries. We do not collect any other personal data directly.
3. How We Use Your Data
Your email address is used to: deliver your licence key after purchase; respond to support or billing enquiries; notify you of material changes to pricing or these terms. We will not use your email for marketing without your explicit consent. Legal basis: contract performance (sending the licence key you purchased) and legitimate interests (support).
4. Data Stored in Your Browser
CutNest stores the following in your browser’s localStorage, on your device only: your stock library (material names, sizes, prices); the job you are currently working on; job history (last 50 calculations); your saved offcut stock; app settings (kerf, minimum usable offcut, company name); your light/dark theme choice; which pre-built material grades you have hidden; your licence key; and your cookie-banner choice. None of this is sent to us. The only item that leaves your device is your licence key, which is sent to Lemon Squeezy to check it (see section 6). You can delete all of it at any time by clearing your browser data.
Shared job links. When you use Share, the job’s pieces, sheet sizes and prices are written into the link itself. Nothing is uploaded to us, but anyone you send the link to can see that job.
5. Analytics
CutNest uses Google Analytics (GA4) to understand aggregate, anonymised usage — for example which pages are visited and roughly how many people try the app — so we can improve the product. Google Analytics sets cookies and may process a truncated version of your IP address; we have IP anonymisation enabled and do not use Google Analytics for advertising or remarketing. We do not use the Meta Pixel or advertising/retargeting pixels. Your cut-list data, piece dimensions, material library and prices are never sent to Google Analytics or to us — they stay in your browser (see section 4). Google Analytics is only loaded after you click Accept on the cookie banner; if you decline, or your browser sends “Do Not Track”, it is never loaded at all. You can also block it with any browser privacy setting or extension. Legal basis: your consent.
6. Third-Party Data Processors
Lemon Squeezy (Tropical Forest LLC) — processes payments and manages subscriptions as Merchant of Record, and checks licence keys: when you activate Pro, and when you open the app while online, your licence key is sent to Lemon Squeezy’s licence API to confirm it is still active. Their privacy policy is at lemonsqueezy.com. Google Analytics (Google LLC) — anonymised, aggregate usage analytics, only if you accept it (section 5). GitHub Pages — hosts this website. GitHub may log IP addresses for security purposes per their privacy policy. Fonts are served from cutnest.co.uk itself; no third-party font service is used.
7. Data Retention
We retain your email address for as long as your subscription is active plus 12 months, in order to handle any post-cancellation queries. After this period your email is deleted from our records. Data stored in your browser is under your control and persists until you clear it.
8. Your Rights Under UK GDPR
You have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; correct inaccurate data; request deletion of your data; object to processing; data portability. To exercise any of these rights contact hello@cutnest.co.uk. We will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
9. Cookies
CutNest itself sets no cookies. It uses localStorage keys on your device for the items listed in section 4, including one (“cn-cookie”) recording whether you accepted or declined analytics. Google Analytics sets cookies, but only if you click Accept on the cookie banner — decline, or send a Do Not Track signal, and Google Analytics is never loaded and no analytics cookie is ever set. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can clear or block anything stored at any time through your browser settings.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified via email to active subscribers. The current version is always available at cutnest.co.uk/privacy.html.
