How the sizes are worked out
- Box height: 34 1/2 finished − 4 toe kick = 30 1/2".
- Box depth: 24 − 3/4 for the door = 23 1/4".
- Bottom and stretchers fit between the sides: 24 − 3/4 − 3/4 = 22 1/2".
- The adjustable shelf is 1/16" narrower so it drops in (22 7/16") and sits back from the front: 23 1/4 − 1 1/4 = 22".
- The 1/4" back is 24 × 30 1/2". Doors depend on your hinges and overlay, so they’re left off.
You’ll also need
- A 1/4" back, 24 × 30 1/2"
- A toe-kick base 4" high, or adjustable legs
- Hinges, shelf pins and screws
Sizes assume 3/4" plywood and lumber at its actual size (a 2×4 is 1 1/2 × 3 1/2"). Measure your material before cutting: plywood is often a little under 3/4".
