A simple desk 48" wide, 24" deep and 30" high, in 3/4" plywood: a top on two panel legs, braced by a modesty panel at the back.

How the sizes are worked out
- The side panels hold the top up: 30 − 3/4 = 29 1/4" high, and 24 − 3/4 = 23 1/4" deep, set back from the front edge.
- The modesty panel fits between the sides: 48 − 3/4 − 3/4 = 46 1/2", and 12" high.
- The top is 24 × 48".

Sizes assume 3/4" plywood and lumber at its actual size (a 2×4 is 1 1/2 × 3 1/2"). Measure your material before cutting: plywood is often a little under 3/4".
